“Out of desperation, comes inspiration” – Cochran on Ozzy, erroneously quoting Marcus Aurelius, Survivor, Season 23 South Pacific
Mid-week. And a marathon of beautiful sessions this very thankful day. And we truly have so much to be thankful for. After the very difficult start to this year, we actually wondered how we might get through it. Of course it was nothing AT ALL compared to what was going on just a few hours north, but the effects of the March 11th Earthquake and Tsunami certainly have had a massive ripple effect. So many friends and small business owners have heartbreakingly closed up shop and left Japan for good. But we’ve dug deep, worked harder than ever and fought for it. There have been tears, risks, sadness, failures, new opportunities, new ideas, challenges and some accomplishments in between. What remained constant was a dream, a passion. Just as emotional as the imagery we try to create. Even in the darkness you can see the stars… and all that. Maybe looking back we took strength in the dark times because they propelled us forward. Was it Comer Cotrell who said something like “out of desperation, comes inspiration?” (or that may have just been in the last Survivor episode…not sure…) Anyway, it’s been that kind of year. And here we are, hopefully back on track, seemingly stronger than ever, busier than we could have ever hoped for and sending a few ripples back of our own. Indeed we would never have made it to November 23rd without so many incredible people crossing our paths, ending up in our viewfinders, inspiring us, mentoring us, referring us, believing in us and encouraging us in so many ways. Simply, thank you all.
So embracing newness here we go with our first Cover for Metropolis. A feature on Tokyo’s fabulous Stay-at-home-Dad’s, photographed by the 2 of us. The delicate irony not entirely lost. Sharing the story today plus a few photos from the shoot. We loved the experience and so glad we could quickly fit it in this mad schedule.
And speaking of schedules we are about to close out bookings for 2011. Very happily, we are now almost fully booked through to mid-December with just a little availability weekdays and on a few Saturdays here and there. Sundays are full. Also just as a reminder, because we have had many inquires this week, bookings for holiday-ready images needed to be secured and completed by November 20th. As editing and turnaround time usually takes about 4 weeks per client during this season. Thanks so much for your understanding.
Getting ready now for 2012…And to kick things off we’re starting the festivities with our 37 Frames 12 Days for Xmas. And it’s all coming very soon. And Happy Thanksgiving!
A little fun with the family afterwards…
